Walking the Gardenpath

The Gardenpath Co-op Society will be starting a housing co-operative on a working farm, somewhere in the British Columbia interior, sharing our skills and resources with others so that they may do the same. The purpose of building and farming outside of urban areas is that we strive to lower our reliance on the mainstream food production, and to improve future food security for ourselves and others in need.

As we travel down the Gardenpath, we seek to learn from others and pass on skills and knowledge, sharing what we grow and produce with others in the farm's local area. Resident members will be on the farm year-round, with associate members, volunteers, employees, and migrant workers filling in the labour gaps during the growing season.

Our focus is to produce fruit and vegetables using organic farming methods with a minimum of technology, passing on the surplus into local cooperatives and food banks. Increased production will be diverted to address local area food insecurity.

During the growing season, our staff will be hosting permaculture education classes for volunteers and paying guests who want to learn more about co-operative living outside of urban areas. A great deal of the class focus is on our soil regeneration efforts, along with learning how we have achieved self-sufficiency.
